Takin It To The Streets - Michael McDonald
You don't know me but I'm your brother
I was raised here in this living hell
You don't know my kind in your world
Fairly soon the time will tell
You...telling me the things you're gonna do for me
I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see
Takin' it to the streets (takin' it to the streets)
Takin' it to the streets (no more need for runnin')
Takin' it to the streets (Oh, oh-oh, nah, nah)
We can make it better for our children!
ABOUT THE EVENT
Must be 18 years old or older
We know first hand that once on the streets, young people are at very high risk of being physically and/or sexually victimized, of medicating with drugs or alcohol to reduce emotional pain, of attempting suicide, and of engaging in acts of 'survival' sex to meet their need for food, clothing, or shelter. Youth who live on the street are almost 'worn out.' They seldom eat properly and are sick most of the time. STDs are rampant. If you talk to young people who have been on the streets for any period or time, they will likely tell you that after awhile, the don't recognize who they have become, and worse yet, they don't care.
For them, there is no tomorrow.
Our goal is to reach these youth before they reach that point! Our annual 48 hours is filled with activities that help hundreds of youth in one weekend!
YPM, is sponsoring our annual 48 hours on the street to find youth who need our help.

About the Name:
Takin' it to the Streets was selected out of 33 possible names by staff, board members, volunteers, youth, and even our Facebook friends. Our winner is Kimberly Boykin, YPM Advisory Board Member and Delta employee. Thank you Ms. Boykin for helping to name such an important event!
