Live-In Residential Counselor - Open Hearts Transitional Living Program

Young People Matter (YPM) is recruiting for the position of Live-In  Residential Counselor for our Open Hearts Transitional Living  Program located in DeKalb County.
Individual must be at least 24 years of age and will be responsible for providing supervision for youth in facility, preparing meals and assisting in youth development.
This is a non-paid position, which includes free room and board, free meals,  free cable, and gas/mileage reimbursement. This is an ideal position for a senior college student, or a senior citizen who needs a place to live rent-free while helping vulnerable youth get their lives on the right path.
The position requires successful completion of criminal, sexual and vehicle background checks, fingerprints, and local (Georgia) reference checks.

Project Coordinator - Open Hearts Youth Shelter

Young  People Matter (YPM) is recruiting for the position  of Project  Coordinator for our Open Hearts Youth Shelter located in DeKalb  County.Candidates will work with runaway, homeless and street  youth in the Atlanta metropolitan area and help them get to safety and stabilize  their lives.  
 
Young People Matter (YPM), a nonprofit organization whose  mission is to develop, implement, and provide programs that have a positive  impact on youth ages 10-24 years old and their families who live in the greater  metropolitan Atlanta area is presently recruiting a Project Director for our  Open Hearts Youth Shelter. 

The Project Coordinator will be a part of a dynamic and growing team of professionals who work for runaway, homeless and street youth in the Atlanta metropolitan area to help them get to safety and stabilize their lives. 

The Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible for all human/social services pertaining to youth entering and exiting the program, including intake assessments, goal setting, referrals to partner agencies and aftercare support. The PC also supervises all Residential Counselors and their schedules. This is not a 9 to 5 position and requires an individual who will be on-call 24/7 to provide intake for youth, transport youth to appointments, (including weekends). 
Someone who lives near or close to Lithonia/Stone Mountain is highly preferred. 

Duties:
  • Maintain all case files for youth served.
  • Serve as a liaison and point of contact for program referrals of youth, including DFCS, DJJ, churches, schools, etc.
  • Supervise all Residential Counselors and their weekly work schedules. 
  • Ensure the daily living of residents are being adhered to according to  agency policy and procedures and assist in their professional development. 
  • Work with Nurse to ensure health assessments are done for every youth.
  • Coordinate behavior and mental health services for youth with YPM's partner agencies and spiritual advisement with YPM's chaplain.
Bachelor's degree required and at least five years working directly with at-risk and/or underserved youth.


Experience in a 24/7 residential facility serving youth is HIGHLY preferred.  Valid driver's license and a reliable automobile with valid insurance is required by date of hire. Must be insurable in the State of Georgia.

The position requires successful completion of criminal, sexual and vehicle background checks, fingerprints, reference checks, and a TB test.
We will not hire any individual with a negative criminal history or one who does not possess a Bachelor's degree.

Salary: Up to $30,000 per year depending upon experience.

Qualifications:
YPM is looking for a professional who  is  considered a leader among their peers.  The ideal individual will possess 
excellent writte and verbal communication skills, along with organizational success and proven social service successes.  You must have a passion for youth  development, be an advocate to help us end child homelessness and are willing to 
 help the Executive Director and Board of Directors help grow and expand the  program.
