We know first hand that once on the streets, young people are at very high risk of being physically and/or sexually victimized, of medicating with drugs or alcohol to reduce emotional pain, of attempting suicide, and of engaging in acts of 'survival' sex to meet their need for food, clothing, or shelter. Youth who live on the street are almost 'worn out.' They seldom eat properly and are sick most of the time. STDs are rampant. If you talk to street kids who has been on the streets for any period or time, they will likely tell you that after awhile, the don't recongnize who they have become, and worse yet, they don't care. For them, there is no tomorrow.
Our goal is to reach these youth before they reach that point! So we are so pleased to Invite You to be a part of a great weekend helping youth all around Atlanta! |
ABOUT THE EVENT
YPM, is sponsoring our annual 48 hours on the street to find youth who need our help. It’s right on time to kick off April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
During these rewarding two days, we’ll have, what we hope, are hoards of volunteers, who will help search abandoned buildings, under bridges, hotels, highways and byways to find youth. We'll distribute food packages, clothing and toiletries to them and offer them a safe place to stay. We're also going to bring as much awareness to homeless children as we can.
This is a wonderful volunteer outreach activity for youth, adults, and civic/social groups.
